With high priority attached to social
welfare issues, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation is actively involved in addressing
healthcare issues in the projects it undertakes. Stretching the helping hand to
children and teenagers from children homes and boarding houses, as well as
children from martyr, refugee, internally displaced and low-income families is
among the Foundation’s major duties.
Following the Foundation’s initiative, blood drive
campaigns were held on a regular basis in both the capital city and the
countryside, followed by surgeries for children affected by cardiac
insufficiency and cleft lip, medical examination of children from low-income
families and other events of this kind.
In 2011, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation provided
financial support to the Rostropovich-Vishnevskaya Foundation to implement the
“Pregnant Women’s Hepatitis B and HIV Diagnosis and Newborn Infants Prophylaxis
of Hepatitis B Virus” Program by the Rostropovich-Vishnevskaya Foundation.
In December of 2010, the Foundation presented a
“Sobol” ambulance furnished with special equipment to the child onco-hematology
center of the regional clinical hospital N1 in Yekaterinburg.
On June 14, 2012, an ambulance provided with special
blood transfusion and small laboratory and 2000 blood transfusion packs were
presented, on behalf of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, to the Hamza Charitable
Foundation, which includes several hospitals dealing with cure of children
suffering from thalassemia, hemophilia and blood cancer.
