The exhibition took place following the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s initiative, with organizational support from “Clean City” OJSC, supported by IDEA Public Association, “Icherisheher” State History and Architecture Reserve Department, and ”Q Gallery” Art Gallery.

The primary objective of the exhibition is to enlighten the population on the importance of maintaining the environment clean, and make them abstain from the habits of throwing items they deem useless without thinking once more. Items thrown away having been considered useless, and waste materials “revived” in the hands of artists.

Video footages were shown at the opening ceremony on the occasion of the 6th anniversary of the exhibition. Today, wastes in Baku city are used as raw material for recycling. Energy is produced as a result of burning wastes. And the exhibition “From Waste to Art” shows that wastes are not a collection of useless items, and that event art works may be created using them.

In the meantime, the exhibition “From Waste to Art” has been organized since 2010 in the framework of a pilot project called “Clean Gala”, implemented by “Clean City” OJSC in Gala settlement, following the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s initiative. Based on the project, management of wastes in the settlement is conducted by methods meeting contemporary standards. The museum “From Waste to Art” has been functioning in Gala settlement since 2015. Visitors may acquaint themselves here with various works created from wastes.

The 6th International “From Waste to Art” Exhibition will continue until October 15.
