Event on the 89th birthday of great leader Heydar Aliyev held in Paris due to support of Heydar Aliyev Foundation

Event on the 89th birthday of great leader Heydar Aliyev was held at Saint Louis Church by the Azerbaijani Embassy in France due to support of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, May 15.


Ambassador of Azerbaijan in this country Elchin Emirbeyov said national leader Heydar Aliyev, who returned to the power in 1993 when the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Daghlyg Garabagh conflict was at the height, founded the national modern state of Azerbaijan and will eternally live in the memory of people, protected sovereignty of Azerbaijan in a hard time while the country was dominated by instability, achieved ceasefire with Armenia in May 1994.


Assuring the stability in the country for the short time, Heydar Aliyev preserved the independence, implemented significant political reforms and achieved recognition of Azerbaijan in the region and world.


The Ambassador noted involving foreign investors in the country and realizing the projects on the delivery of rich oil-gas resources to foreign markets, Heydar Aliyev started the future economic rise of Azerbaijan. Many were against to the implementation of these projects. However, the social development of the country confirmed that Heydar Aliyev was a successful politician. 


Speaking about Heydar Aliyev’s merits for the liberation of Daghlyg Garabagh and 7 adjoining districts of Azerbaijan occupied by the Armenian military forces, assurance of the country’s territorial integrity, the Ambassador stressed the great leader worked hard to have in the international arena the fair voice of Azerbaijan 20% of territory of which is under occupation, which has over a million of refugees and IDPs. 


The diplomat underlined this conflict that has a tragic character and its consequences wait for its solution, expressing confidence the occupied lands will soon be freed, refugees and IDPs will return to their native lands. He stated the resolution of the conflict will assure peace and security in South Caucasus, open new outlooks for all nations in the region.


Representatives of the French public, high ranking officers, representatives of diplomatic corps and Azerbaijani diaspora, Azerbaijani students were present in the event.


Soloists Floran Didier and People’s Artist Murad Huseynov, accompanied by brass band, performed works by European and Azerbaijanis composers in trombone and piano.
