A concert by the Azerbaijan State Popular Instrumental Music Ensemble was organized at “Sin” Theatre of city of Melouse

A concert by the Azerbaijan State Popular Instrumental Music Ensemble was organized at “Sin” Theatre of the city of Melouse within the framework of the Days of Azerbaijan held in France based on the project “Cultural Treasures of Azerbaijan – the Pearl of Caucasus”, with organization support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and by assistance  of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in France,  February 2.

 

Delivering a speech before the concert, Mayor of the city of Melouse Jean Rottner underlined the significance of residents of Melouse knowing  Azerbaijan, a developed country of the Southern Caucasus, and brought to attention that cultural events played a significant role in the development of relations between nations and making them closer, mentioned that mugham, which is going to be performed in today’s concert, was entered on UNESCO’s List of Intangible Cultural Heritages.

 

President of Melouse and surrounding settlements Jan-Marie Bokel thanked President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, Azerbaijan’s First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva for the organization of the exhibition and concert, expressed contentment with the development of relations between France and our country, and mentioned that Azerbaijan, where nice and sincere people live, has been dynamically developing, and was rich in subsoil and surface resources.

 

The senator mentioned that our country was a full member of the European Council and that colleagues representing Azerbaijan in this organization have been very active.

 

J.M. Bokel  said in Azerbaijan, a country rich in historical traditions, significant changes have been made recently towards development, and it has made much contribution to the world culture.

 

Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to France Elchin Amirbayov emphasized that Days of Azerbaijan have been held already in a number of French cities based on the project “Cultural Treasuries of Azerbaijan – the Pearl of Caucasus” with support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and by assistance of the Embassy, and that hospitality of Melouse residents has impressed him, and located on the old Silk Way, our country has played a role of a bridge  between the East and the West.

 

Mentioning that representatives of different nations have been living in friendly and peaceful conditions in Azerbaijan, the Ambassador said the care shown by our state towards their cultures, religions and languages is a true example for other countries. Azerbaijan has rich culture with an old history. First opera and ballet in the Orient was created just in Azerbaijan.

 

The Ambassador said mugham, which is going to be performed in today’s concert, talks of Azerbaijani people’s loyalty to the national creative traditions.

 

Popular music and works of composers were performed at the concert by Azerbaijani masters of art.

 

The concert was attended by officials of Melouse, representatives of society and diaspora.
