An evening of Azerbaijani culture was held in Munich

An evening of Azerbaijani culture was held in Munich, the capital of the Bavarian Federal Land, with organizational support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and assistance by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Germany, May 18. Held at the Munich Residenz and having about 900 guests, the evening was attended by State Minister of the Bavarian Federal Land Emilia Müller, Prussian Prince Adalbert and Princess Eva-Maria, Princess Yvonne of Hesse, Fidelius Graf von Rehbinder and Renate Gräfin von Rehbinder, famous German photographer and artist Michael von Hassel, Fashion designer Kay Rainer, former goalkeeper of the German national football team Jens Lehmann, deputies of the German Bundestag, Bavarian Landtag and European Parliament and a number of political, public and cultural persons of Germany.


Opening the ceremony, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Germany Parviz Shahbazov talked of the development of relations between our countries in political, economic, scientific and cultural spheres. The Ambassador read the address by Azerbaijan’s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva to participants of the event.


Taking the floor, State Minister Emilia Müller said music, a common language of the mankind, and, in general, culture were an important means of dialogue, and  noted that she was pleased to see the Azerbaijani culture being presented in Germany. Mrs Müller said while on an official visit to Azerbaijan 3 years before, she was impressed by Azerbaijan’s diverse culture, the Azerbaijani music and art: “Music has been a significant part of the Azerbaijani society. In general, the country amazes its guests with its fascinating nature, old cities and kind people”.


Emilia Müller  talked of the relations between Azerbaijan and Germany and, in particular, the Bavarian Federal Land, and called Azerbaijan Bavaria’s significant partner.


Mrs Müller  thanked President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva for successful promotion of the Azerbaijani culture in Germany and highly appreciated the works done by the Foundation and Azerbaijan’s Embassy in Germany.


Within the event, the photo-exhibition “Azerbaijan” was demonstrated, books about Azerbaijan published by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in German and a CD with Azerbaijani music were distributed among visitors and sweets of Azerbaijan presented.


The State Chamber Orchestra of Azerbaijan performed with  a concert program.


After the event, a dinner-party was arranged by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Azerbaijan’s Embassy in Germany.
