An event devoted to the 20th January tragedy is held in Israel with support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation

The Azerbaijan-Israel International Association (AzIz) held an evening of commemoration of the 20^th January 1990 tragedy at Haifa University, jointly with “Ezra” Centre, which studies Iran and the Persian Gulf countries.

Israeli citizens of Azerbaijani descent living in various regions of Israel, and relatives of Alexander Markhevka, Vera Bisantina and Ian Meyerovich, who died during the tragedy, living currently in Israel attended the evening organized with support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

A fragment from the documentary “The Burden of Power” by famous movie director Andrey Konchalovski was shown at the event.

An exhibition of photos made on the day of tragedy by photographer from Baku Boris Dobin, a member of AzIz Association, who witnessed the 20^th January events and currently lives in Israel, has been organized in the central hall of the University’s Students’ House.

Boris Dobin handed over a collection of 67 photos reflecting the 20^th January tragedy to the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

Director of “Ezra” Centre, Doctor Soli Shahvar, research officer of the Centre Emil Abramov, representatives of the AzIz Association Yegana Salman, Arye Gut, Mehman Guliyev and others delivered a speech at the evening.
