A festival devoted to Azerbaijani national music is held in France with the organizational support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation

A Siam festival was held with the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s organizational support at the Siam Castle located on Jura mountains of France. Aiming to introduce Azerbaijan’s cultural treasures to the French, the festival is devoted to Azerbaijani national music.

Pierre Thilloy, the primary initiator and head of the Festival, the author of the work “Khojaly-613”, talked about Azerbaijan’s rich music history and heritage. He thanked the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and its president  Mehriban Aliyeva, as well Azerbaijan’s Embassy in France for the support provided to the festival’s organization.

Noting that 47 works would be performed at the festival, which brought together over 100 composers, performers and musicians from around the world, P.Thilloy underscored that Azerbaijan’s music was presented for the first time in the capacity of a guest, and that this was not just a coincidence. He associated this with Azerbaijan’s chairing the Cabinet of Ministers of the Council of Europe since May this year.

Adviser to the Embassy Elmar Mammadov talked about the events recently held with the organizational support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and assistance by Azerbaijan’s Embassy in France in various regions of France, and thanked P.Thilloy, who has made special contribution to devoting the Siam Festival wholly to Azerbaijani music.

On the very first day of the Festival, works by famous Azerbaijani composers, Uzeir Hajibeyli, Fikret Amirov, Suleyman Alaskarov, Vagif Adygozalov, Khayyam Mirzazadeh, Musa Mirzayev, Firangiz Alizadeh and others, were performed by Azerbaijani and French musicians.

Performances by people’s Artist of Azerbaijan Murad Huseynov, Jazz performer Emil Afrasiab, young khanendehs Arzu Aliyeva, Ehtiram Huseynov and accompanying them Elshan and Malik Mansurov brothers, and Husameddin Azizov were listened.

The Festival will continue until July 11th.
