Days of Azerbaijani Culture starts in Athens

Days of Azerbaijani Culture was launched in Athens, September 27.

 

Within the framework of the Days of Azerbaijani Culture, Azerbaijan’s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva met and dined together with Dora Bakoyanni, the representative of Greece at the European Council’s Parliament Assembly, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Marianna Vardinoyannis and President of the Greek Olympic Committee Spiros Kapralos.

 

The Days of Azerbaijani Culture started with a charitable concert held at 5 thousand-seat Irodio Theatre of Athens with the joint organizational support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Greece and  the Marianna Vardinoyannis Foundation of Greece.

 

The concert was attended by Mehriban Aliyeva, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Marianna Vardinoyannis, influential persons of Greece’s public, political and cultural spheres, residents of Athens and tourists.

 

The host of the event gave information about the activities of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and its president Mehriban Aliyeva. He said the Foundation, with its big influence on the international arena, has been implementing various projects in a number of world countries, and culture has its special place in these projects. The host said the event aims to support education in Greece.

 

Azerbaijan’s ambassador to Greece Rahman Mustafayev talked about the relations between the two countries. The ambassador noted that this event played a significant part in terms of Azerbaijan’s promotion in Greece, and thanked Mehriban Aliyeva for the support she has provided to this work.

 

After the speeches, a concert took place. The Uzeir Hajibeyli State Symphonic Orchestra of Azerbaijan conducted by Honoured Person of Art Fakhraddin Karimov and the State Dance Ensemble performed before the Athens’ audience. Mugham was also performed at the concert.
