Heydar Juma Mosque in Mardakan settlement has been reconstructed following the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s initiative.

 

No major repair works had been done to the mosque, which has been functioning since 1893. Reconstruction works at the mosque started in 2012. On December 31, 2013, Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva attended the inauguration of the mosque after major reconstruction.

 

Previously being one-storied, the mosque has been added a second floor, which allows praying of 130 persons at a time. Two ablution rooms, a library, a madrasa, a ceremonies room for 180 persons and various auxiliary rooms have been created here, and a minaret built.
