Mehriban Aliyeva met with the delegation headed by Chairman of the Second Constitutional Committee of the Columbian Republic’s Senate

First Lady of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva met with the delegation headed by Chairman of the Second Constitutional Committee of the Columbian Republic’s Senate Alexandra Moreno Pirakive.


Before the meeting, the guests watched a documentary talking of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s activity.


Then First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva had a meeting with the guests. Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva said she was pleased to see the Chairman of the Second Constitutional Committee of the Columbian Republic’s Senate, who made her first visit to our country. Thanking for a decision made by the Columbian Parliament in connection with the Daghlyg Garabagh conflict, especially recognition of the Khojaly genocide, Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva specifically emphasized the contribution of Alexandra Moreno Pirakive to this work.


Giving information about the Armenian-Azerbaijani, Daghlyg Garabagh conflict, Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva brought to the attention of the guests that 20 percent of our territory was occupied as a result of the Armenian’s military aggression against Azerbaijan, and over 1 million Azerbaijanis were subjected to ethnic cleansing. It was informed that Khojaly killings were the bloodiest pages of this conflict, and delivering information about this event to the world  community is of great importance from the standpoint of preventing its recurrence.


Chairman of the Second Constitutional Committee of the Columbian Republic’s Senate Alexandra Moreno Pirakive said her visit to Azerbaijan will be remembered with pleasant impressions, and emphasized that her country was interested in developing bilateral relations.
