A Meeting with former Prime Minister of France and Trade Affairs Counsel Dominique de Villepin
Azerbaijan’s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva met, February 11, with former Prime Minister of France and Trade Affairs Counsel Dominique de Villepin.
Mehriban Aliyeva mentioned, with gratitude, their meeting with Dominique de Villepin in Paris. Saying our countries had very good relations, Mehriban Aliyeva noted that the launching of Azerbaijan’s first telecommunication satellite into the orbit with support from a French company was an obvious example of these relations. She expressed a hope that this program would continue in the future too with support from France.
Mehriban Aliyeva said “Being the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, we have been also cooperating in the spheres like humanitarian affairs, culture and education. The Heydar Aliyev Foundation wants to deliver the truth about Azerbaijan to the French, and we have been very active in this direction. It has been already one year that the Foundation has been implementing a project promoting Azerbaijan’s culture in France. Events within this project cover the whole France”. Azerbaijan’s First Lady emphasized that these events are shown much interest, and the number of positive articles in the French media about Azerbaijan is increasing.
Touching also upon the cooperation in the sphere of education, Mehriban Aliyeva noted that a French school is being constructed in Baku following the initiative from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
Azerbaijan’s First Lady said she was confident the visit by Dominique de Villepin will be successful.
Having thanked Mehriban Aliyeva for the kind words, Dominique de Villepin said he was greatly satisfied with his visit to Azerbaijan. He once more congratulated Azerbaijan on the achievements made, and noted that the fact that Baku was chosen to hold the 1st European Games is an obvious example of this country’s increasing influence. The guest from France wished every success to Mehriban Aliyeva, who heads the Organizing Committee established to hold the Games.
