Meeting with committee chairman of the Pakistani Parliament, member of the Azerbaijan-Pakistan Interparliamentary Friendship Group Mrs Rubina Saadat Gaimkhani

Azerbaijan’s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva met with committee chairman of the Pakistani Parliament, member of the Azerbaijan-Pakistan Interparliamentary Friendship Group Mrs Rubina Saadat Gaimkhani.

Saying she was pleased to see the guest in Baku, Mehriban Aliyeva expressed gratitude for the level of friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan, and emphasized that in addition to keeping cooperation in all areas, our countries have built good relations both at the state and parliament levels and also  at the level of nongovernment  organizations: “These relations have led to our nations becoming friends. Our countries have always supported each other’s position at international organizations.”

Informing the guest of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s activity, Mehriban Aliyeva said: “Having functioned almost 10 years, the Foundation has implemented projects in humanitarian, educational, cultural and public health areas, as well as projects aimed to facilitating women’s integration into the society both in Azerbaijan and beyond its border. A few of such projects have been implemented in various cities of Pakistan. A school building was constructed, following the Foundation’s initiative, in the country’s Muzaffarabad city, financial aid was provided to the construction of an eye hospital in Peshawar city, various types of medical and charity actions held.”  Mehriban Aliyeva expressed assurance that continuation of such events would contribute to the cooperation between our countries.

Rubina Saadat Gaimkhani said she was informed of the works done by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. She thanked the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and, personally, Mehriban Aliyev for the aids provided to the Pakistani people.

Mrs Rubina Saadat Gaimkhani delivered the greetings of President Asif Zardari and the invitation to Pakistan to Mehriban Aliyeva. Mehriban Aliyeva accepted the invitation with pleasure.

Then Mehriban Aliyeva was presented the Women’s Award of 2012 “A Symbol of Humanism – For Benevolent Activity on an International Scale, Serving the Highest Ideas of the Mankind”.
