Mehriban Aliyeva meets with the French Senate’s delegation
Mehriban Aliyeva, the First Lady of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, met with the delegation of senators led by Deputy Chairperson of the France-Caucasus Friendship Group, Head of the France-Azerbaijan working group, Senator Mrs. Nathalie Goulet, February 7.
Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva said the adoption of a French law criminalizing the denial of the so-called Armenian genocide caused concerns in the Azerbaijani society. The First Lady of Azerbaijan thanked Mrs. Goulet and other senators for their just position during the discussion of the law at the French Senate. She expressed hope the Constitutional Council will not approve the law, adding “because it contradicts democracy and freedom of speech”.
