Presentation of “Baku-2015” first European Games takes place in Istanbul

After Cannes, Athens and Berlin, next presentation of “Baku-2015” first European Games took place at Istanbul’s “Chyraghan” Palace, November 18.

 

Azerbaijan’s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Chairperson of the European Games Organizing Committee Mehriban Aliyeva attended the ceremony.

 

The presentation, which was realized with the organizational support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and assistance by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Turkey, was attended by representatives of Turkey’s public and political circles, persons of culture and sports. The guests first viewed an exhibition comprised of bronze statues devoted to “Baku-2015”. Works by over 20 sculptors from Azerbaijan were demonstrated at the exhibition called “We Together”.

 

Visitors viewed also photos with picturesque places of Azerbaijan.

 

The host of the presentation said holding of the first European Games in Baku relies on the influence Azerbaijan has gained on the international arena.

 

A letter by Turkish President Rajab Tayyib Erdoghan and his spouse Emine Erdoghan to the ceremony was read at the presentation. Confidence was expressed in the letter that the first European Games will be held in Baku at the highest level, developing relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey in all spheres were underscored and the significance of the presentation emphasized.

 

Mehriban Aliyeva addressed the ceremony.

 

Then participants of the ceremony watched a documentary devoted to “Baku-2015”.  The documentary talks about the preparation works for the first European Games, the sports infrastructure created in Baku and other events.

 

Turkey’s Minister of Youth and Sport Akif Chaghatay Kylyj noted that great achievements have been reached in relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey in all spheres.

 

Highly appreciating the inclusion of Istanbul in the list of cities where “Baku-2015” is presented, Akif Chaghatay Kylyj said it was a rejoicing fact that preparation works for the European Games went on with rapid pace, and expressed a confidence the first European Games will enter the history of the continent as a bright event.

 

At the end of the event, a concert by the jazz group led by Elchin Shirinov took place.
