An Azerbaijani class was opened at a Yekaterinburg Gymnasium following the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation

A class with education in Azerbaijani was opened at Gymnasium No.108 in Yekaterinburg. This class, in which children will be taught in Azerbaijani, was opened following the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Consular Office of Azerbaijan in Yekaterinburg and with support from the Sverdlovsk Regional Administration.


A red ribbon was cut by Azerbaijan’s Consul General in Yekaterinburg Sultan Gasymov, Head of the Sverdlovsk Regional Administration Yakov Silin and Head of the Azerbaijani Diaspora Shahin Shykhlinski.


Making a speech, Yakov Shykhlinski delivered congratulations of Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region Eugenia Kuyvasheva, highly assessed the mutual relations between Azerbaijan and Sverdlovsk in all spheres, and said the opening of a class with teaching in Azerbaijani at one of the respected schools of Yekaterinburg was a significant event. Y.Silin talked of the services of Azerbaijan’s great political figure, national leader Heydar Aliyev in the development of relations between Russia and Azerbaijan, and mutual activity in the humanitarian sphere.


Azerbaijan’s Consul General in Yekaterinburg Sultan Gasymov thanked the urban council for supporting the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Azerbaijan’s General   Consulate, and said the opening of a new class was a significant event in the development of friendly relations  between Azerbaijan and Yekaterinburg.


S. Gasymov talked of the state policy concerning the education and humanitarian cooperation in the country, caring attention to  the Russian language and literature in Azerbaijan. The Consul General talked of close relations with the Region after the visit by Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva to Yekaterinburg in December 2010. Sultan Gasymov talked of the role of national leader Heydar Aliyev, who had laid the foundation of friendship and cooperation, in deepening the cooperation. According to him, the tradition of extension of strategic cooperation is being successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev.


Congratulation letters by Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Azerbaijani Ambassador to Russia Polad Bulbuloglu were read.


Then participants of the ceremony and representatives of the public viewed the classroom repaired with support by representatives of Azerbaijani Diaspora. 8 schoolchildren to be educated in the class will be taught by Azerbaijani and Russian teachers.


The official ceremony was followed by a concert program.
