President Ilham Aliyev attends inauguration of “Drujba” Kindergarten built at the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s initiative in Astrakhan
Inauguration of the “Drujba” Kindergarten built at the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s initiative under Secondary School No.11 named after national leader Heydar Aliyev in the city of Astrakhan took place, September 29.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the inauguration.
The Governor of Astrakhan Region delivered a speech at the event:
- Dear Ilham Heydar oglu.
My dear Azerbaijani friends, brothers.
Respected colleagues.
Today is indeed a nice and significant day. First, the city of Astrakhan is pride of hosting a significant event - the Summit, which brought together the Presidents of five Caspian States. At this event are made necessary and right decisions in order to ensure that people inhabited on the Caspian shores live in the environment of peace, friendship and respect for all peoples, as did for centuries our ancestors.
I want to say that it was the personal position of respected Ilham Heydar oglu that relations currently existing in the city of Astrakhan, the region of Astrakhan, concrete projects being implemented here by the Government of Azerbaijan not only arouses the feeling of respect, but also amazement. This is an example of concrete plans, all contracts and agreements of our leaders that have been realized between our country and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Mister Ilham Heydar oglu, I’m very grateful on behalf of the residents of Astrakhan for such relations. Believe me, the people of Astrakhan too have such a respect and love for the people of Azerbaijan and, personally, for You. Before You, I would like to thank the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Narimanov District Executive Authority’s leadership. You have good specialists and executives. Of course, I would like also to thank our Diaspora advocating the necessity of such relations.
Thank you for this present. My daughter told me: “Dad, please do not forget that your younger grandchild will visit this kindergarten. But if you have such an intention, he will go, because it is very nice kindergarten. Thank you very much.”
I would like to present a set of multimedia to the director of the kindergarten as this is a perfect kindergarten. Let our children become literate. Thank you very much, Ilham Heydar oglu.
Let me show you the present we prepared for You on the occasion of the Caspian States Summit. It is a basin. Let this basin be always full of successes and prosperity. It is written on the basin: “In Honour of the Summit”. Thank you very much.

- Dear Alexander Alexandrovich,
Respected mayor.
Dear friends and respected residents of Astrakhan.
I want to say that I’m very pleased to come again to the friendly Astrakhan soil. This is not my first visit to Astrakhan Region, and I have to note that while coming here in a car I congratulated Alexander Alexandrovich on the great achievements reached in the Astrakhan Region recent years. The city has indeed changed, become more beautiful, comfortable, new apartments, trade centres and public places are built and parks laid out. All these are the signs of the Astrakhan Region’s rapid development and, of course, it would be impossible to see different results under the leadership of such a governor. We have always been happy for each other’s successes. Therefore, I’m sure when the plans that Alexander Alexandrovich shared with me are realized, Astrakhan will be more beautiful.
The fact that the Summit of Caspian States is now held in Astrakhan after the Baku Summit that we held four years ago is the indication of this city’s development. The Summit could have been held in any other city of the Russian Federation, but just Astrakhan was chosen and we are very happy with this choice. I’m sure decisions that the Caspian States would adopt today will bring our countries and peoples closer. We have been trying to achieve this goal, we want it and, of course, we are rejoicing at how the centuries-long relations between Baku and Astrakhan have developed today.
We are happy also because there are places in Astrakhan associated with our country, and there is the “Astrakhan-Baku” Friendship Park in Baku. Last time that park was inaugurated by Alexander Alexandrovich. Today we are participating in the inauguration of a kindergarten. It will be another symbol of our friendship. It is by no chance that the kindergarten is called “Drujba” (Friendship). In my opinion, this name has a symbolic meaning, as our generation is a generation of friends. Once we have lived in a united country, we know and have a respect for each other. The youth have to keep active intercourse, make friends with each other first at the kindergarten, then at the school named after Heydar Aliyev. Thus we ensure the legacy of friendly relations between our peoples and countries.
There are many reasons that unite us – both the history and current political processes require that relations between Russia and Azerbaijan be friendly. We are pleased with the bilateral relations between our countries, the relations between the regions, and today’s ceremony is another sign of sincerity and profoundness of the relations that tie us together.
I would like to once more congratulate residents of Astrakhan, all of us and friends of Astrakhan on this significant event, and I wish children feel here comfortable and grow as worthy citizens of their country. Thank you.

Inauguration of the kindergarten took place after the speeches.
A photo stand reflecting the life and activity of national leader Heydar Aliyev, visits by head of the state Ilham Aliyev to Astrakhan and the works done in this city at the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s initiative has been created in the foyer of the building.
Children of Azerbaijanis living in Astrakhan, as well as children from local families will be educated in this kindergarten designed for 140 children, of which foundation was laid in 2013 with the participation of Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva. In general, 6 groups will be formed here with children from 2 to 6 years of age. The kindergarten has been provided with all necessary equipment and inventory. Sports and music halls complying with modern requirements have been created here for children.
