Secondary school built in Shimali village of Khachmaz district, at the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation opens

Secondary school built in Shimali, one of the remotest villages of Khachmaz district, at the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation was opened, 21 December. Education at the school, which has been constructed in the frame of the Foundation’s New School to New Azerbaijan Programme, will be in Russian.


Attended by representatives of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the public of the district and the village, the event opened by the national anthem of Azerbaijan.


Representative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Ilgar Mustafayev conveyed greetings of Azerbaijani First Lady, President of the Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva to teachers and pupils and noted that over 300 schools were built in Azerbaijan and beyond at the initiative of the Foundation.


Principal of the school O.Manafova said so far pupils were studying in the rooms made of wood for fishers. Construction of the new school within 5600 square meters started in June 2011 on the initiative of Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva and the Foundation she heads. And today we are opening the modern and large school building. There are computer and doctor’s rooms, library, conference hall and buffet at our school. One of the distinctive features of the new school is that it has a diesel based boiler house. 


The school has a sport ground in the yard, all the educational supplies have been donated by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.


Head of Khachmaz District Executive Power S.Khanbabayev, MP I.Aliyev thanked the Azerbaijani First Lady for the initiative, said the school was a huge gift for the residents of the village on the New Year eve.


Schoolchildren said poems in the opening ceremony.


After the ribbon cutting ceremony, attendees were familiarized with the school.
