President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva makes herself familiarized with the conditions created at Children’s Home No.3 in Khatai District after basic repair

Azerbaijan’s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva made herself familiarized with the conditions created at Children’s Home No.3 in Khatai District after basic repair and restoration, and met inhabitants of the children’s home, October 4.

As of today, another children’s home in the capital will operate in a building meeting up-to-date standards. Children’s Home No.3 in Khatai District has been commissioned, after basic repair and restoration, for use by orphans and children deprived of parental care.

President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva viewed a stand reflecting the condition of the establishment before the repair.

Head of the Baku City Executive Authority Hajibala Abutalybov gave information, saying that the building of this children’s home was constructed in 1976 for a nursery-children’s home for 12 groups. As of 1990, it has continued to operate as a children’s home, designed for 110 children.

Azerbaijan’s first lady familiarized herself with the conditions created at the children’s home. 107 orphans and children deprived of parental care are educated at the establishment. A staff comprised of 44 pedagogical, technical and medical workers are engaged in the education of the inhabitants, aged 3 to 18. Here operate dance, vocal music, housekeeping, carpet weaving and painting circles.

Walking through rooms, Mehriban Aliyeva talked to inhabitants of the children’s home, inquired about their problems and wishes.

During the conversation, inhabitant of the children’s home Sanan Mammadov recalled one of the meetings Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva had with orphans and children deprived of parental care. He said during the meeting, Leyla Aliyeva inquired about the children’s wishes. Sanan said he was suffering from an eye disease, and his biggest wish was to solve this health problem. Having enjoyed the support of the Foundation’s vice president, Sanan was successfully operated, and now the difficulties that he has had with his vision are gone. Sanan Mammadov thanked President of the Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva and Vice-president Leyla Aliyeva for making his biggest dream come true.

Repaired and restored in a modern style, the children’s home has been provided with necessary furniture and equipment. Video surveillance, Internet and fire warning systems have been installed. Launched in July 2014, within the Plan of Actions on implementing the “State Programme on Social and Economic Development of the city of Baku and its Settlements during 2014-2016”, approved by a Resolution of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, dated January 17, 2014, the basic repair-construction and restoration works were finished in 2016, with the support of President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva.

The establishment has also its rich library. Azerbaijan’s first lady emphasized the significance of advocating reading books among children.

During the basic repair, additional canteen, gymnastics, sports and assembly halls, and a room for meetings with parents were constructed. After the repair, the building’s area became 2126 square metres, having increased by 590 square metres.

As it has always been, this time too, inhabitants of the children’s home gathered around Mehriban Aliyeva, demonstrated their skills to Azerbaijan’s first lady - whom they consider their best friend, told poems, and were photographed together.

A sports ground covered with artificial green has been created in the children home’s yard, verdure laid, an up-to-date illumination system installed on the building’s facade, and decorative seats built in the yard for children’s rest.

The Heydar Aliyev Foundation has been covering the inhabitants of Children’s Home No.3, as other children’s homes in the country, with attention and care. In summer months, children spend their holiday at a four-storied health-improving – recreation centre built with the Foundation’s support in Buzovna Settlement, which meets modern standards.

Graduates of the children’s home too always feel the support of the Foundation. After serving in the national army, former inhabitants of the children’s home are provided with job at the Oil Refinery, and with a hostel. Girl-graduates of the establishment live in a building constructed in Masazyr for graduates of children’s homes.

Satisfied with the conditions created at the children’s home, Mehriban Aliyeva wished successes to the establishment’s staff.
