President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva was familiarized with Children's Home No.2 in Yeni Guneshli settlement reconstructed on the Foundation’s initiative

Mehriban Aliyeva, the President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, MP, was familiarized with Children Home No2 in Yeni Guneshli settlement of Surakhany district reconstructed at the Foundation’s initiative, April 5.

Acting since 2000, the Children Home was rebuilt as part of Heydar Aliyev Foundation`s Children Homes and Boarding Schools Development Programme. The Home includes 126 orphans and children deprived of parental care aged 3-16.

In frame of the reconstruction works, a children home in the main building, daycare center, library, conference room, diner, psychiatrist’s, logopedist’s, dentist’s rooms have been repaired, play and sport grounds in the yard renovated. Heydar Aliyev Foundation donated computers, plasma TV sets and air conditioners to the Children Home.   

First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva inspected daycare center, took interest in education of kids. She was told the Children Home needs another building. According to the State Programme on Giving Children from Public Children Institutions to Families in the Republic of Azerbaijan (Deinstitutionalization) and Alternative Care (2006-2015), Khezer and Surakhany districts have been selected pilot districts. The pilot project that has been implemented at Children Home No2 since January 2009 for the first time in the republic aims at the admission of children from families of high risk, disabled families, as well children with single parent to the daycare center. Children will stay at the center for 12 hours. They will be taken to and brought back from schools, fed during the day and go home evenings.

Mehriban Aliyeva inquired about social conditions of children`s families.

She donated a 28-seat bus to the Children Home on behalf of the Foundation.
