President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva and the Foundation’s Vice-president Leyla Aliyeva attended the inauguration of the Rehabilitation Centre for Children with Down Syndrome

On October 7, inauguration of the Rehabilitation Centre for Children with Down Syndrome in Nizami district took place.

 

Azerbaijan’s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva, the Foundation’s Vice-president Leyla Aliyeva and Arzu Aliyeva attended the inauguration.

 

Total area of the territory allocated, following the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s initiative, under construction of the Centre is one hectare. Total area of the development including main and ancillary buildings is 7300 hectares.

 

Mehriban Aliyeva acquainted herself with the conditions created at the Centre.

 

All necessary conditions have been created at the Centre’s canteen to ensure comfortable nourishment of children with Down Syndrome. There are rooms for a psychologist, preschool training, parents’ room, as well as biology and zoology rooms. Here will also function sculpture, working education, carpet-making, embroidery and painting circles. A computer room, speech therapist’s, mathematics, astronomy rooms and other ancillary rooms have been provided with the most advanced equipment.

 

Viewing the Centre’s sports hall and pool, the First Lady was informed that the pool consisted of two parts -  swimming and treatment sections. Provided with state-of-the-art equipment, the cinema and theatre halls too have been commissioned for patients with Down Syndrome.

 

After familiarizing herself with the Centre, Mehriban Aliyeva saw a play prepared by “Dajallar” theatre functioning under the Association for Children with Down Syndrome.

 

A child playground, pavilions and an open sports ground have been created on the Centre’s territory. A bus was presented to the Centre by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
