Opening of waiting rooms at Khyber Eye Foundation’s clinic in the Pakistani city of Peshawar took place

A ceremony of opening of men and women’s waiting rooms - built with support from Azerbaijan’s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva - at the Khyber Eye Foundation’s clinic operating in the city of Peshawar in Pakhtunkhwa region of Pakistan took place.

The ceremony was attended by Chairperson of Khyber Eye Foundation’s Board of Directors Hajji Mohammad Halim Khan, Chairperson of Pakistani Senate’s Broadcasting and Information Committee, Vice-president of Islamic States’ Chamber of Trade and Industry, Senator Hajji Gulam Ali, deputies of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region’s parliament, intelligentsia, and public and political persons.

Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan Dashgyn Shikarov talked about successful projects implemented by Mehriban Aliyeva in Azerbaijan and abroad. The Ambassador told that within the framework of a series of humanitarian projects by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, a vaccination campaign was held against Hepatitis B virus, open heart surgery carried out in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region, examination of cerebral palsy was organized at clinics of the region, free blood transfusion took place along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, financial aid was provided to construction of an eye clinic and humanitarian projects implemented during Gurban and Ramadan holidays in various districts of the region, in 2012 and 2013.

Addressing the event, chairperson of Khyber Eye Foundation’s Board of Directors Hajji Mohammad Halim Khan thanked Mehriban Aliyeva for the care and attention shown to Pakistani people.

Chairperson of Pakistani Senate’s Broadcasting and Information Committee, Vice-president of Islamic States’ Chamber of Trade and Industry, Senator Hajji Gulam Ali highly valued the projects implemented by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. He believes that the projects being implemented at the initiative of and with support from Mehriban Aliyeva in all regions of Pakistan contribute to strengthening of the relations between the two peoples.

After the official part of the ceremony, the attendees of the event made themselves familiar with the Khyber Eye Foundation and newly constructed waiting rooms.
