Participants of International Baku Forum “Expanding the Role of Women in Cross-Culture Dialogue” visit Azerilme LTD

Mehriban Aliyeva, First Lady of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador, MP, and Mrs. Maria Kaczynski, First Lady of Poland, Mrs. Zanele Mbeki, First Lady of the South African Republic, Mrs. Ana Paula Dos Santos, First Lady of Angola, Mrs. Lilita Zatler, First Lady of Latvia, Mrs. Fusun Ihsanoglu, spouse of Secretary General of OIC, who are in Azerbaijan to attend the International Forum “Expanding the Role of Women in Cross-Culture Dialogue”, have visited the carpet-making factory Azerilme Ltd in Baku on June 11.


Visitors were informed carpet-making is one of the most ancient folk trades in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijani carpets are displayed in a lot of museums across the world as one of the most unique exhibits.

 

Carpets produced by Azerilme Ltd which has been operating since 1996 were awarded various prizes in sale exhibitions in US, Germany, Austria, Great Britain, Italy, Japan and Russia. Production of carpets meets all the international standards. Only natural dyes are used here to dye yarns, sketches are taken from national ornaments and sorts only.

 

The 37 square-meter carpet “Sheikh Safi” aroused particular interest of visitors. Guests were informed the carpet, original of which is stored in London and belongs to Tebriz carpet-making school, includes 9,25 mln loops.  

 

First ladies viewed a carpet weaving process. Mrs. Leila Aliyeva made a loop in the carpet which is being made.

 

Seeing the rich outdoor exposition of the gallery visitors expressed delight of familiarization with carpets, highly valued great love in the country for this ancient folk trade and protection of these works under leadership of Mehriban Aliyeva. 

 

First ladies were presented souvenirs. After that they continued the conversation about art of carpet weaving in Azerbaijan at a tea table.
