Heydar Aliyev Foundation and UNICEF perform another project

Due to support of Heydar Aliyev Foundation and UNICEF, on April 2 – World Autism Day – Baku joined the international campaign “Light up blue light” held in many cities around the world.

The same day, one of the buildings in the National Park – Baku Business Center was illuminated with blue light.

Held for the third year, action “Light up blue light” is a unique global initiative aimed at raising public awareness about autism. That day, many countries worldwide light up one of the most prominent buildings in their cities with blue light in order to provide moral support to these people.

Autism is a general term for a mental illness that occurs in the brain of children due to genetic factors or environmental exposures. Autism occurs before the age of three and results in limited action, prevents the development of the brain. From this point of view, it is very important to identify the disease timely. Observation and comparison of the child’s actions by parents is important, and the international action in support of autistic children is designed to pay attention to it.

According to studies, one percent of the world’s population – about 70 million people – is affected with this disease. The rates of autism are of particular concern. It is estimated that this year the number of autistic children will exceed the number of patients with AIDS, diabetes and cancer. Autism is still considered an incurable disease, but early diagnosis may reduce its effects. Therefore, young parents need to be more attentive to the condition of their children and have information about the disease.
