Azerbaijan's First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva declared “The First Lady of the Year”

Turkish Ekovitrin magazine has named Azerbaijan's First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, MP Mehriban Aliyeva “The First Lady of the Year” upon the poll.The magazine announced a poll to choose “The Star of the Year” among 102 nominees in 34 categories.

Mehriban Aliyeva, the spouse of President Ilham Aliyev of the Republic of Azerbaijan, was announced the “First Lady of the Year” to become of one of the three winners in the “Honor Award” category.

Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, the Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, and Boris Johnson, the Head of the London Municipality, became laureates of the “Honor Award” in diplomacy.

Ekovitrin`s two-month poll to name stars for 2011 was launched on February 7 and saw the record number of respondents – 251,562 people.

The award-giving ceremony will take place in Istanbul in June.

The magazine featured First Lady of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva`s biography and socio-political activities, as well as highlighted her previous awards and actions to propagandize the truths about Azerbaijan.
