The Uzeir Hajibeyli 6th International Music Festival comes to an end

The Uzeir Hajibeyli 6th International Music Festival, which took place with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and organizational assistance by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan, came to an end on September 28.

 

On the last day of the Festival, a premiere of the opera “Figaro’s Wedding” took place at the State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre of Azerbaijan.

 

Conductor of the scene work was Presidential prize winner, laureate of international contests Eyyub Gouliyev.

 

Main characters were played by Honoured Artist of Belarus Vladimir Gromov, Honoured Artist of Ukraine Dmitriy Grishin, Honoured Artist, Presidential Prize winner Inara Babayeva, Honoured Artists Farida Mammadova and Akram Poladov, as well as Ilham Nazarov and Tural Aghayev.

 

Commenced on September 18, the Uzeir Hajibeyli 6th International Music Festival brought together 11 world-renowned groups. During this period, works by great Azerbaijani composer Uzeir Hajibeyli, other representatives of Azerbaijan’s classic music and world-renowned composers were performed at the M.Magomayev State Philharmonic of Azerbaijan, in the chamber and organ music hall, the State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani Composers Union, the Baku Music Academy and other concert halls by both local and foreign country musicians.

 

Within the framework of the Festival, also took place presentation by the M.F.Akhundzadeh National Library of Azerbaijan of an exhibition covering the great composer’s life and creativity, an electronic database called “Uzeir Hajibeyli – the founder of contemporary Azerbaijani professional music and national opera”, and a scientific and practical conference was organized by the Azerbaijani Composers Union on the theme of  “Turkic nations music as shared values”, and the book “Энциклопедия азербайджанского мугама”  (Encyclopaedia of the Azerbaijani Mugham) was presented.
