Martyrs of the 20th January were remembered in Israel

An event was held in “Community House” of the Jerusalem Municipality devoted to the events occurred on January 20, 1990 in Baku. The event was organized by the Israel-Azerbaijan International Association (AzIz), supported by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

 

A photo-exhibition reflecting the Black January was demonstrated within the framework of the event.

 

Representatives from other former USSR republics attended the event, in addition to those from Azerbaijan.

 

General Director of AzIz Association Lev Spivak  talked about the events that took place in January 1990 in the Azerbaijani capital.

 

Then poet Shabtay Agarunov spoke, and Ian Meyerovich, Vera Besantina and Alexander Markhevka – the Jewish people killed in that events – were remembered. Alexander Agranovski, Shaul Simantov, Vilen Yakubov and others shared their memories about the 20th January events.
