A ceremony of remembrance takes place in Bucharest in connection with the 23rd anniversary of Khojaly tragedy

A ceremony of remembrance was held at the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Romania in connection with the 23rd anniversary of Khojaly tragedy.

 

Employees of the representative office of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and SOCAR in Romania, chairperson of the  Romania-Azerbaijan Friendship Association and board members, members of the Azerbaijan-Romania Culture and Youth Association, Romania-Azerbaijan Chamber of Trade and Industry, Azerbaijanis residing and studying in this country, as well as representatives of Turkish-Tatar communities attended the ceremony.

 

Consul of the Azerbaijani Embassy Vugar Huseynli talked about the ethnic cleansing and genocide policy pursued centuries long by Armenian nationalists against the Azerbaijani people, forcing them out of teir historical lands, Azerbaijanis becoming refugees and internally displaced people, and all these being accompanied by mass killings by Armenians.

 

Director of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s Representative Office in Romania Igbal Hajiyev gave information about the international campaign “Justice for Khojaly!” put forward by Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva. He underscored that members of the Diaspora will always actively work in propagating the true facts about Khojaly genocide both on an international scale and also in Romania. 

 

Press releases prepared in connection with Khojaly genocide were also sent to the Romanian parliament, state authorities, non-government organizations, as well as embassies and representative offices of  international organizations operating in Romania. Articles were published in a number of influential newspapers and press organs of Romania about the Khojaly tragedy.
