Presentation of the documentary “Eternal Mission” produced with Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s support takes place

On January 22, presentation of the documentary “Eternal Mission” and book-album “Strange Graves”, produced by Baku Media Centre, with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, took place at Nizami Cinema Centre.

Head of the project and chief producer of the film Arzu Aliyeva attended the presentation ceremony.

Information was given about the project before the film’s presentation. It was noted that the documentary “Eternal Mission” was about the difficult fate of the delegation - headed by Chairman of the Parliament Alimardan Topchubashov - sent by the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic on a mission to the Paris Peace Conference, January 1919.

Within one and a half year-period spent for the production of the film, the creative team has carried out researches in archives of the cities of Baku, Tbilisi, Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Paris, made video and photo shootings in these cities, met with scholars doing research works in France in connection with these immigrants, and filmed the talks.

The book-album “Strange Graves” is the first collection of information about the fates and graves of the Azerbaijani delegation sent on a mission in 1919 to Paris, as well as our fellow citizens who left for France to escape from the Bolshevik persecution in the 20s of the last century. Chief advisor to the documentary “Eternal Mission” and the book-album “Strange Graves” is well-known diplomat Ramiz Abutalybov.

It was mentioned that the film “Eternal Mission” was the second film produced by Baku Media Centre, with Arzu Aliyeva being a chief producer. The first documentary called “Targeting Baku. How Hitler lost the battle for oil” was broadcast in May 2015 on local channels in Azerbaijan and, through National Geographic channel, in 26 foreign countries.

Then presentation of the film took place.

As is seen from the screened work, all who had represented Azerbaijan at the Paris Peace Conference had lived the same fate – a strange country, languorous life, strange grave … although the address was a country like France, a city like Paris…

Lasting about an hour, the film was watched with great interest. This screened work comes to an end by visits of the strange graves of Alimardan Topchubashov and Jeyhun Hajibeyli – participants of the Paris Peace Conference - by national leader Heydar Aliyev in December 1993, as the first President of the independent Republic of Azerbaijan, coming to the Saint-Clue graveyard near Paris.
