Basic repair works start in a residential building for the disabled in Jalilabad following Mehriban Aliyeva’s instruction

Representatives of the Regional Development Public Association (RDPA), founded by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, had a series of meetings in Jalilabad district, December 4. 

 

Representatives of the Foundation first visited the residential building constructed in Jalilabad district for the disabled. Executive Director of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Anar Alakbarov informed of the start of basic repair works - following the instruction by First Vice-president of the Republic of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva - in the building constructed for the disabled, and the building will be commissioned for residence in a short span of time.  

 

Then a meeting took place with the youth in the Heydar Aliyev Centre of the Jalilabad district. Anar Alakbarov mentioned that the Heydar Aliyev Foundation has always supported the youth in the framework of various projects, talking about the activities of the Regional Development Public Association and the role of the youth they had played in the projects implemented by the organization. It was noted that the primary purpose of the RDPA, established following the initiative of Azerbaijan’s First Vice-president Mehriban Aliyeva, was to implement more active projects aiming to support the country’s public-political, social-cultural life, and building a civil society, providing extensive support to the reforms being underway, including the events being carried out by the state towards developing  the regions. Carrying out public control in the regions, ensuring transparency and impartiality in considering appeals, looking into issues facing the population in various fields, and securing the solution thereof in the conditions of cooperation and dialogue with state and municipal bodies are among the goals set. 

 

Young participants of the meeting put forward a proposal to create a Mugham Centre and a Youth Centre in Jalilabad with a view to efficiently organizing  the youth’s leisure. Anar Alakbarov, recalling the organization of mugham contests with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, called on talented young people to take active part  both in this project and other projects on painting, sculpture and other types of art, and be united around interesting and essential for the district ideas.

 

With a view to keeping a close contact with the population, regional representative offices of the Regional Development Public Association were established. At the moment, representative offices of the RDPA are functioning  in the Daghlyg Shirvan, Guba-Khachmaz, Lankaran, Aran-1, Aran-22, Sheki-Zagatala, Ganja-Gazakh and Yukhary Garabagh regions. Jalilabad district is included in the Lankaran regional representative office. Representatives have been performing their duties in the Heydar Aliyev Centre in Lankaran city. 

 

Anar Alakbarov emphasized the role of the young volunteers who have closely participated in RDPA’s activities. “Close participation of the volunteers in sports events, marathons, charitable actions, as well as environmental and other types of projects is worth of esteem. Volunteers’ joining a number of initiatives are already giving their outcomes”, - said Anar Alakbarov. 

 

Attendees of the meeting, naming the Regional Development Public Association as one of the successful projects of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, said the youth have been showing great interest towards being united around the organization as volunteers.  

Then representatives of the Foundation familiarized themselves with handicrafts of talented physically handicapped children in the Jalilabad district’s Heydar Aliyev Centre. Performances of talented juveniles were viewed, and gifts were presented to them on behalf of the Foundation.  It was noted that projects of the Foundation have created conditions for revealing talents in various fields, underscoring the importance of  providing them support. 

Representatives of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation then paid a visit to the Jalilabad district’s Olympic Sports Complex. The Foundation has donated sports facilities and equipment  to the district’s Olympic Sports Complex.  

 

Having carefully approached  multilateral development of the youth, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation have  implemented various projects aiming to instil in children and the youth interest in sports, and bring them up with sound mind. Anar Alakbarov noted that marathons have been held in Baku for two years following the Foundation’s initiative. Alongside this, a marathon has also been held in Ganja, and has had a success. Mentioning that much interest has been shown towards the marathon both inside and outside of the country, Anar Alakbarov said the number of participants are growing year-by-year. 

 

Anar Alakbarov said, along with  the state care for sportsmen, significant works have been carried out also towards strengthening the material and technical foundation of  sports complexes. Donation by the Foundation of sports facilities and equipment to the Jalilabad district’s Sports Complex, and installation thereof in the hall, will contribute to children and juveniles’ showing more interest in sport, their growing up with  sound mind, and being trained as professional sportsmen in future. 

 

Speaking at the meeting with sportsmen, 4-fold European champion and world champion for kyokushin karate sports type  Salahat Hasanov said the state of Azerbaijan has been showing great care and attention for sports, and that, as a result of this, our sportsmen have reached more and more achievements year-by-year. “These are not our only  achievements, we will make sure that the Azerbaijani flag always fly high at various sports competitions.”, said the sportsman.
