French newspapers write about the exhibition devoted to Mahsati Ganjavi in Melouse

The Heydar Aliyev Foundation worthily promotes Azerbaijan in France.

These words have been written in an article entitled “Sentimentality of a poetess” printed in the newspaper “Les Dernières Nouvelles d'Alsace” in connection with the events held in the city of Melouse, with organizational support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and assistance by Azerbaijan’s Embassy in France, on the occasion of the 900th jubilee of Azerbaijani poetess Mahsati Ganjavi.

The article talks about the exhibition and concert devoted to the 900th jubilee of Mahsati Ganjavi in “Fonderi” exhibition hall of Melouse. Describing Azerbaijan as a country with old history and rich cultural treasures, the newspaper emphasizes that the foundation of friendly relations has been laid between Ganja city, the home-city of Mahsati Ganjavi, an eminent representative of the 12th century Eastern Renaissance, and the city of Melouse.

The article states about the richness of the exhibits displayed at the exhibition, and notes that humanistic ideas, including freedom, equality between man and woman, and brotherhood are personified in Mahsati Ganjavi’s works. The author says that the exhibits being demonstrated and illustrations devoted to the poetess’s works reflect the golden era of the 12th century Azerbaijani literature and culture.

The newspaper appraises the events held by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in various districts and cities of France to more closely familiarize the French with Azerbaijan.

Another article with the same theme has been printed in “L’Alsace”. It is stated in an article entitled “Music – Azerbaijan’s rich cultural treasure” that a concert devoted to the 900th jubilee of Mahsati Ganjavi, Azerbaijan’s first woman-poetess, at the Saint Etienne Church was successful: “The reason for this success was the organization of an exhibition and a concert in Melouse within the project “Cultural Treasures of Azerbaijan – the Pearl of the Caucasus”, with organizational support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and assistance by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in France with the objective of acquainting the French with Azerbaijan, a country being an example of tolerance. During the four months elapsed since that time, people of Melouse have gained broad idea of Azerbaijan’s history, rich culture and music”.

Author of the article Jean-Marie Valder provides separate information about old music instruments belonging to the people of Azerbaijan. He notes that a music performed by balaban and tar aroused much interest in the audience.

At the end of the article, it is emphasized that the exhibition and concert devoted to the 900th jubilee of Mahsati Ganjavi will play a special part in expansion of friendly and cultural relations between the two peoples.
