A scientific conference on the theme of "Azerbaijan's geopolitical significance in the new international context" in Bucharest

A scientific conference on the theme of “Azerbaijan’s geopolitical significance in the new international context” was held at the Romanian-American University in Bucharest, with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, November 11.

 

Head of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s Romanian Representative Office Igbal Hajiyev talked about the development continuing in Azerbaijan despite the negative impact of the processes taking place recently in the world.

 

A documentary talking about Azerbaijan’s achievements was demonstrated at the Conference.

 

Advisor to the Azerbaijani Embassy in Romania Irfan Davudov said that a series of conflicts are taking place in the South Caucasus region and that these conflicts, the Daghlyg Garabagh conflict in particular, have had a negative impact on the region’s development and was a threat to stability. He mentioned Azerbaijan’s being a bridge between Europe and  Asia and participating in a number of international projects, and underscored Romania’s constant support of Azerbaijan at international organizations.

 

Rector of the Romanian-American University, professor Florin Bonju emphasized that Azerbaijan was one of the oldest oil producers of the world. Talking about Azerbaijan’s energy potential, F.Burju said, considering the geopolitical changes taking place both in the regions and in the world, it is necessary both for Romania and Europe at large to strengthen the relations with Azerbaijan.

 

Director of SOCAR’s Representative Office in Romania Hamza Karimov, chairperson of Geopolitics Association, expert for energy safety Dan Barbuts, participant of the Forth Baku Humanitarian Forum, head of the Romanian Leading Strategy Centre Rizvan Buzatu made a speech at the event.
