3rd All-republican Children's Forum in Baku

The Third All-republican Forum of Children was held in Baku, November 17, with the joint organizational support of the State Committee for Family, Women and Child Issues, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Children’s Fund of UN (UNICEF).

 

Some 350 children, including those with special talent, in need of special care, and children from other nations, as well as refugee and IDP families attended the Forum.

 

An exhibition consisting of children’s handicrafts was shown within the framework of the Forum.

 

At the event, head of the Humanitarian Policy Issues Department of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan Fatma Abdullazadeh read a congratulation letter of President Ilham Aliyev to the Forum participants.

 

Then a documentary about the state’s child policy in Azerbaijan was shown.

 

Chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Child Issues Hijran Huseynova noted that holding of children forums in Azerbaijan have become a tradition, and she thanked Azerbaijan’s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva and UNICEF leadership for the support they provided to the holding of these events.

 

Deputy Head of the Parliament Bahar Muradova talked about the works done towards protecting child rights in Azerbaijan, and the care and attention shown towards children.

 

Deputy minister of labour and social protection of population Natig Mammadov, deputy minister of education Firudin Gurbanov, deputy minister of communication and high technologies Iltimas Mammadov, head of the Baku City Central Healthcare Department Elmira Aliyeva, head of UNICEF’s representative office in Azerbaijan Andro Shilakadze and head of department of the Foreign Affairs Ministry Marat Kangarlinski made a speech at the Forum.

 

During the Forum, discussions were held, with participation of experts representing relevant state bodies, on such themes topical for children as “Let us love the Homeland and be worthy of it”, “Equal rights and opportunities for children”, “Application of new standards in education”, “Children and Internet safety”, “Protection of environment. Healthy lifestyle”, “Efficient organization and appreciation of leisure”, “Role and responsibility of family and society in formation of children as a personality” and ” Let us convey the truth about Garabagh to the world society”.

 

An appeal was adopted on behalf of the Forum participants to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and a declaration was addressed to the world society and international organizations on behalf of the Azerbaijani children.
