The Mstislav Rostropovich Festival came to an end

The 6th International Mstislav Rostropovich Festival  held in Baku with support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and organizational assistance by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism came to an end.


On this occasion, the Festival’s closing ceremony was held at the Heydar Aliyev Palace, December 9.


Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfaz Garayev said the ceremony of closing of such a grandiose festival was one of the significant days in the history of Azerbaijan’s culture. He noted that the holding of the closing ceremony of the Festival at a palace named after Heydar Aliyev  devoted to his friend and a great musician was very gratifying.


A. Garayev underlined that world-renowned musicians and music groups have gathered during the Festival in Azerbaijan. Noting that this festival was of special significance in terms of the great artist’s 85th anniversary, the Minister thanked Azerbaijan’s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva and artistic director of the Festival, President of the Rostropovich Foundation Olga Rostropovich for great support in organization of the Festival.


Artistic director of the Festival, President of the Rostropovich Foundation Olga Rostropovich thanked the President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the leadership of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan for the support provided to festivals so far held, as well as participants of the Festival.


The event continued with a concert by one of the Italy’s famous orchestras Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Symphonic Orchestra.


Symphonic pieces in the performance of an orchestra led by world-renowned conductor Zubin Mehta were welcomed by viewers with applauses.
