Private exhibition of Tahir Salahov is opened in Paris

On February 27, a private exhibition of eminent artist, laureate of USSR and Azerbaijan State Prizes, People’s Artist of USSR Tahir Salahov was opened in Paris under the name of “At the Crossroads of Centuries”.

 

Azerbaijan’s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva attended the opening ceremony, jointly organized by the French Academy of Arts, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan and the Embassy of Azerbaijan in France.

 

Before the inauguration, Mehriban Aliyeva acquainted herself with the activity of the French Academy of Arts.

 

Then the inauguration of the exhibition commenced.

 

Permanent Secretary of the French Academy of Arts Arnaud d'Hauterives  said a great deal of interest is shown towards the creativity of Tahir Salahov, who is very well known throughout world, and that he was proud of his country’s always associating with Tahir Salahov’s creativity. 

 

Azerbaijani Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfaz Garayev evaluated the opening of this exhibition in Paris as a significant event for the Azerbaijani culture: “This is the first time that an exhibition of an Azerbaijani artist is opened at the French Academy of Arts”.

 

People’s Artist Tahir Salahov thanked everyone who had contributed to the organization of the exhibition. He thanked also the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Foundation’s President Mehriban Aliyeva for the support provided to this initiative.

 

Then the guests acquainted themselves with the exhibition.

 

The ceremony was attended by eminent persons of culture of France, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in France, and of the French government.

After the exhibition, an official reception was organized at UNESCO headquarters on the occasion of the re-election of the organization’s Director General Irina Bokova to this position.

 

Azerbaijan’s First Lady, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva attended the ceremony.
