7th International Mstislav Rostropovich Festival comes to an end
On May 18, a closure ceremony of the 7th International Mstislav Rostropovich Festival took place at the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Society named after Muslim Magomayev. The Festival was held with the joint organizational support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the Mstislav Rostropovich Foundation. Festival’s artistic director was Olga Rostropovich.
The event was attended by Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfaz Garayev, eminent public persons, and renowned people of culture and art.
World-renowned musicians and music groups from around the world –Saint-Petersburg’s Academic Symphonic Orchestra, the Monte-Carlo Symphonic Orchestra, soloist of the Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Performance Centre, conductor Yuri Temirkanov, pianists Boris Berezovski and Denis Kojukhin, violinists Loran Corsia and Sergey Dogadin – joined the festival.
The Festival was completed by a performance of the Azerbaijan State Symphonic Orchestra. The Orchestra was directed by Gintaras Rinyakchivus and, as a soloist, David Geringas (violoncello).
