President Ilham Aliyev attended the inauguration of a new mosque in the city of Gabala

On February 28th, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the inauguration of a new mosque in the city of Gabala.


The Head of the State was informed that construction of the mosque started in May 2010. Constructed by order of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Mosque’s designer is “Constructor LTD”, and the building’s contractor is “Gilan Inshaat” LTD. Construction area of the building is 715 sq.m. and the minaret’s height 25m.


While acquainting himself with the conditions created at the Mosque, President Ilham Aliyev was informed that 450 men and 150 women, altogether 600 people, will be able to pray here at the same time.  With ayahs from the Holy Qur’an, walls and pillars of the Mosque have been decorated with religious symbols, by using patterns of Azerbaijan’s art school and unique samples of Oriental ornaments. Two small fountains have been built in an architectural style. Also a room for an Ahong, rooms for lessons, library, rites, ablution rooms for men and women and ancillary buildings have been built in the Mosque’s yard. Greenery, decorative trees have been planted in the yard, modern lightening systems installed.


President Ilham Aliyev was presented Qur’ani Karim.


The Head of the State expressed his satisfaction with conditions created at the Mosque and gave relevant instructions.
