Regional Development Public Union is established following the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s initiative

Regional Development Public Union (RDPU) was established following the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s initiative. On March 2, the Public Union held its first meeting in Ismailli District.

 

With the primary objective of more actively participating in the country’s public-political, social-cultural life, building a civil society, supporting reforms being carried out, including actions taken by the state towards developing the regions, the Regional Development Public Union will, at the same time, act towards building mutual dialogue between citizens and state and municipal bodies, and strengthening public control mechanism.

 

Speaking at the first meeting of the Regional Development Public Union, Executive Director of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Anar Alakbarov said secondary schools and preschool education establishments have been constructed and basically repaired by the Foundation during the period past, in the framework of the programmes “New school to new Azerbaijan”, “Support to education”, “Development of children homes and boarding schools”, “Development of preschool education establishments”, and significant works have been done towards removing the population’s healthcare problems and betterment of the ecological condition in the country. Saying that the Heydar Aliyev Foundation has chosen, in its activities, the way of serving its people and the homeland, Anar Alakbarov noted that the Foundation has been implementing projects aiming at developing of all spheres and realizing programmes and projects related our history, culture, art, the Daghlyg Garabagh conflict, and introducing to the world the true facts about Azerbaijan, including the international campaign “Justice for Khojaly”. 

 

Bringing to attention that over 250 events were held, during 2012-2015, to promote Azerbaijan abroad, Anar Alakbarov said upcoming years the Foundation’s activity will primarily focus on implementation of different projects in the regions. “Extending our activity in regions we have declared the priority issue. In accordance with the task set by President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva, the Regional Development Public Union has been established by the Foundation. The primary objective of the Public Union will focus on strengthening public control, application of international projects of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation within Azerbaijan, and working with the youth. The most significant task set by the Foundation’s President Mehriban Aliyeva is building cooperation between state entities and the population”, - said Anar Alakbarov.

 

It was mentioned at the meeting that trips would be made to various regions of the country within the framework of the Public Union’s activity, and proposals received would be analysed. It was also brought to attention that collective appeals will be reviewed, rather than considering matters of individual nature.

 

Taking the floor later, chairperson of the Regional Development Public Union Mahammad Abdullayev gave information about the primary objectives of the organization. He said RDPU will hold events aiming at studying and solving problems faced by the population in science, education, sports, tourism, environment, social security, culture, art, development of entrepreneurship etc., and protecting their rights specified in legislative acts.

 

RDPU will, at the same time, set itself a task on implementing projects in the regions with a view to providing support to increasing the world views and practical skills of the youth deprived of parental care, in need of special care, as well as those with restricted health condition, creating conditions for the youth to jointly act on the state’s current and future priorities, improving possibilities for education and securing their active integration into the society, as well as preparing and implementing actions aimed at studying, analysing and improving the population’s living standards.

 

The Public Union, aiming to prepare and implement programmes serving development of entrepreneurship and tourism, as well as employment programmes, will realize projects towards forming and developing a strong human capital. Projects of RDPU will also aim at bringing up the youth in a spirit of national and moral values, traditions and our historical past, and enriching their knowledge about the culture of our country and the world alike. 

 

Various regional centres of the Union will conduct analysis on individual areas relying on the tasks set by the organization in cities and districts of the republic, meet citizens at the local level with a view to building close relations with population, discovering existing problems, and directly obtaining information on different spheres, and carrying out work according to the aim of the activity.

 

Speaking at the first meeting of RDPU held in Ismailli District, chairperson of the National Assembly’s Youth and Sports Committee Fuad Muradov said all initiatives and projects of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation have been accomplished successfully. According to him, establishment of the Regional Development Public Union will play a significant part in peoples’ lives. The MP noted that projects of the Foundation have covered every corner of the republic, and these projects are backed by citizens. The newly established union too is of significant importance from the perspective of public control. “The Head of the State too has been approaching this matter with special attention. In his last speech, the Azerbaijani President explicitly said that we are stepping over to a completely new era. In this era, employment of people, improving the local economy and, of course, strong public control are very essential. Therefore, the establishment of the Regional Development Public Union is a positive case for all of us”, - said Fuad Muradov. 

 

Speaking at the event, district’s leaders and youth talked about projects the Heydar Aliyev Foundation has so far implemented in various spheres in Ismailli, including the entering of the widely spread coppersmithery art in Lahyj and kelaghayi art in Basgal villages on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage Representative List, following the initiative of President of the Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva. Considering the establishment of the new union worth of esteem, district residents expressed their readiness to provide every kind of support to the activity of the organization. Discussions were held on the development of tourism in the district, supporting talented youth and establishment of a training centre in connection therewith, creation of new jobs, support to social, agricultural and educational spheres, as well as to young entrepreneurs, and other concerned areas at the event held in the form of discussion.

 

After the event, representatives of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation visited villages of the district, listened to residents, inquiring about their problems. Residents expressed their contentment in the establishment of the Regional Development Public Union and thanked President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva for this initiative. 

 

It was brought to attention that Hotline and WhatsApp message service of the Public Union will be commissioned into operation soon with a view to expanding relations with the population and implementing the tasks assigned. Written appeals received by the organization, appeals entering the Hotline and received by WhatsApp messages, photo and video materials will be analysed and reviewed in accordance with the organization’s areas of activity and duties.
