Campaign "Unlimited Opportunities" launched in Azerbaijan with the support of Heydar Aliyev Foundation

On June 1, International Children's Day, Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Ministry of Labour and Social Protection and UNICEF launches campaign "Unlimited Opportunities" aimed at eliminating the discrimination towards children with disabilities.

To be implemented over the next six months through special events, social reels on TV, announcements and other ways, the campaign will support the social integration of children with disabilities, the Foundation’s Press Service reports.

The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities has been ratified by the Azerbaijani Government in 2009. Activities are conducted in the country in this regard, especially in the field of inclusive education.

About 56,000 children with disabilities have been registered in Azerbaijan. Only 6,000 of them get education at special schools and 11,000 at home.

The goal of the campaign is to change attitude towards disabled children by parents, teachers, health workers and others. One of the promotional activities of the campaign will be an international conference in Baku on children with disabilities, which is scheduled for September.

Joint activities with partners will bring together the youth, children, as well as mass media representatives and public figures.
