Several years ago, Heydar Aliyev Foundation took an initiative to deliver the modern technologies for the visually handicapped to Azerbaijan. In 2005, the Foundation and UNDP signed an agreement on cooperation to ensure the use of ICT by blind and visually impaired people.

The project aims to integrate the visually impaired into society and to expand opportunities to acquire knowledge and information by means of information and communications. Under the Foundation`s initiative, a publishing house has been established at a special boarding school for visually handicapped children. The textbooks and manuals are being printed here using the Braille alphabet.
