An Evening of Azerbaijani Culture in Hannover

On October 28, 2014, an Evening of Azerbaijani Culture was organizedin the German city of Hannover with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Germany. At the evening held at Hannover Congress Centre, a concert by the Azerbaijan State Symphonic Orchestra, conducted by Fuad Ibrahimov, took place.

 

Within the framework of the event, the book “German Traces in Azerbaijan”, a new publication by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, was presented. In a book prepared with close participation of  head of the “History of Azerbaijan” Department of the Humboldt University, professor Eva Maria Auch, Germans’ inhabitation of Azerbaijan has been interpreted in historical terms, and scientific facts, photos and maps were provided.

 

Guests of the evening made themselves acquainted with the photo-exhibition “German Traces in Azerbaijan” and an exposition consisting of the art works by winners of the competition “Germany Through An Artist’s Eyes”.

 

The event was attended by deputies of the Lower Saxony Federal Lands’ parliament, members of Hannover city council, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Germany, representatives of the public and press, as well as Turkish Consul Mehmet Gunay, President of the University of Hannover Erchi Barke, Deputy Mayor of Hannover Thomas Herrmann, Hannover's Police Chief Uwe Luhrig, City Councillor Maximilian Oppelt and Chairman of Jewish Community in Lower Saxony Michael Furst.
