Anniversary of Khojaly genocide marked in European Parliament due to support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation

On March 3, an event to mark the 17th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide was held in the European Parliament due to support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.


Participants were first familiarized with photo exhibition arranged by Heydar Aliyev Foundation on Khojaly tragedy, the most horrible tragedy of the previous century.

 

Azerbaijan`s Permanent Representative to the European Union Emin Eyyubov told of the Khojaly tragedy.

 

Member of the European Parliament Jisel Kalenbakh made speech and invited participants to honor the Khojaly victims to the minute of silence.

 

Senior Fellow of the U.S.-based Jamestown Foundation Vladimir Socor shared vies on Khojaly genocide.

 

The participants were also informed of the international awareness campaign “Justice for Khojaly” initiated by General Coordinator of the OIC Youth Forum on Intercultural Dialogue Mrs. Leila Aliyeva. Signatures were collected to support the campaign. 

 

Monitor in the hall displayed names of Khojaly genocide victims.

 

The event brought together members of the European Parliament, representatives of diplomatic corps accredited to the EU, members of Azerbaijan`s diaspora organizations and journalists.
