A ceremony entitled “Azerbaijan: The Wind of Culture” was held in Rome following the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s initiative to mark the 20^th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Italy, November 15.

The Azerbaijani delegation participating in the ceremony held a series of meetings on November 15^th. Deputy Prime Minister Elchin Afandiyev first paid a visit to the monument erected to great Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi in Villa Borghese Park of Rome. Then Elchin Afandiyev  met with Mayor of the city of Rome Gianni Alemanni.

Aids provided by Azerbaijan’s First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva to restoration of the Italian cultural heritage was highly appreciated at the meeting. Also, the Mayor’s Office of Rome was thanked for care shown towards the Azerbaijani culture in the person of Nizami Ganjavi.

At a meeting with Italian Minister of Culture Lorenzo Ornaghi, Deputy Prime Minister Elchin Afandiyev underlined that bilateral relations between our countries have developed and that cooperation in the sphere of culture would be continued further.

Addressing the ceremony entitled “Azerbaijan: The Wind of Culture” held in the evening of November 15^th at Rome’s Auditorium Parco Della Musica Concerts and Festivals Palace, Elchin Afandiyev evaluated the celebration of the 20^th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Italy as a historical event. He said our nations are connected with historical ties and relations between our countries are developing with rapid pace today. And official visits  strengthen these relations further.

Emphasizing rapid development of our country with old history and rich culture, the Deputy Prime Minister talked of our most painful problem, the Armenian-Azerbaijani, Daghlyg Garabagh conflict. Elchin Afandiyev expressed a hope the conflict would soon be solved in a peaceful manner.    

Highly appreciating the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s contribution to the organization of this mighty event, Elchin Afandiyev delivered the greetings of Azerbaijan’s First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva to the participants of the event.

Then the congratulatory letter of our country’s First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva to the participants of the ceremony entitled “Azerbaijan: The Wind of Culture” organized to mark the 20^th  anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Italy was read.

After reading the congratulatory letter, Azerbaijan’s State Chamber Orchestra named after Gara Garayev directed by People’s Artist Teymur Goychayev performed with a grandiose concert program.

Celebration of the 20^th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Italy following the initiative and with support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation has created a great festive mood. Our cultural treasures sounded in the concert program have turned into unforgettable memory about Azerbaijan in every visitor.
