Inauguration of the Room of Azerbaijan is opened at the Geneva Office of the UN

Inauguration of the Room of Azerbaijan - restored with new design and concept - took place at the Geneva Office of the United Nations. The project has been realized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, enjoying the support of the permanent representative office of the Republic of Azerbaijan under the UN.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov and Director General of the UN’s Geneva Office Tatyana Valovaya attended the opening ceremony.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Director General Tatyana Valovaya delivered a speech during the event, underscoring that the Room of Azerbaijan would be a good contribution to ensuring the fruitful operation of the UN’s Geneva Office.

The Room of Azerbaijan at the Geneva Office of the UN was created by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in 2007.

With a view to making sure that the room meets the latest technological standards, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation has developed a new design together with foreign designers, and carried out repair and restoration works in 2022. Necessary conditions have been created here to hold conferences and meetings. The room has been provided with up-to-date software and high technological equipment.

While designing the Room of Azerbaijan, national elements, including Karabakh carpets, a sample of shebeke (lattice), the mugham trio – tar, kamancha and gaval, as well as photos reflecting Azerbaijan’s nature and architecture were used.

A number of countries have their rooms at the Geneva Office of the UN. These rooms are used to hold various sessions and meetings during the UN events. From this standpoint, the Room of Azerbaijan at the Geneva Office of the UN is of importance to represent our country.
