10th Gabala International Music Festival

During July 30 to August 7, the 10th Gabala International Musical Festival took place.

 

In the festival, held with the organizational support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, supported by the Culture Ministry and Gilan Holding Company, world-renowned conductors, performers and music groups from such countries as Russia, Israel, USA, Switzerland, Austria, Cuba, Hungary, Turkey, Spain, Italy and Georgia, as well as well-known Azerbaijani music groups participated.

 

On July 31, inauguration of the festival took place on an open scene before the Heydar Aliyev Congress Centre in Gabala. At the ceremony, a congratulation letter by First Vice-president of the Republic of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva was read to the festival participants.

 

Concert programmes were presented, within the framework of the festival, by the students’ symphonic orchestra of the Uzeir Hajibeyli Baku Music Academy, the State Symphonic Orchestra of Azerbaijan, Cuba’s “Jovanes Clasicos Del Son” Group, Israel’s virtuoso pianists, young mugham performers of Azerbaijan accompanied by Mugham Instrumental Ensemble, “Baku Chamber Orchestra” of the Baku Music Academy, Gaytaghy Instrumental Ensemble led by People’s Artist, virtuoso accordion player Anvar Sadykhov, “Budapest Gypsy Band” Music Group from Hungary, “Clarte” clarinet quartet, Israel’s world-renowned Jerusalem Symphonic Orchestra, and Georgia’s Tbilisi “Big Band” Orchestra. One of the concerts of the festival was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of great Azerbaijani composer Gara Garayev.
