Meeting with members of a delegation led by President of the CIS Countries Jewish Communities Federation Lev Levayev

Members of a delegation led by President of the CIS Countries Jewish Communities Federation Lev Levayev visited the Heydar Aliyev Foundation,  April 11.

 

The delegation members were in detail informed of photographs taken from the personal archive of the national leader, covering separate eras of his activity.

 

The visitors were familiarized with numerous documents reflecting the very different moments of phenomenal person Heydar Aliyev and creating a wide idea of an entire era of Azerbaijani history, gifts presented by famous politicians of the world, books about the great leader, views said about the founding father of the state of Azerbaijan by outstanding figures of politics, science, culture and art worldwide, and saw with great interest the pictures taken during meetings with leaders of different countries.

 

Then a meeting took place with President of the Foundation, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, MP  Mehriban Aliyeva. Mrs Aliyeva expressed pleasure of seeing  representatives  of organizations coordinating Jews living in CIS countries in our country and the Foundation named after the great leader. Giving brief information about the Foundation, she said the major target of the Foundation was to study the rich scientific-theoretical and political heritage of genius person, founding father of the independent state of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev and deliver to future generations,  paying, at the same time, great attention to education, health, culture, implementation of social projects, making contribution to multilateral development of the country. Last year, 132 schools were built and commissioned by the initiative of the Foundation, and construction of 100 more is expected this year. Assistance to children being educated at children homes and boarding schools, as well those suffering from thalassemia and diabetes is a key task for the Foundation, and special programs are implemented in this direction. Great importance is attached to  cooperation with leading international organizations, public and non-governmental entities of different countries worldwide, among which there are Jewish organizations.

 

Representatives of the Jewish organizations noted they are aware of the large projects implemented by the Foundation and its president in the field of solving social problems of  concrete people, and of the country. They expressed delight in familiarizing themselves with the rich culture, classic and contemporary music of the Azerbaijani people during their visit to Baku, highly valuing the activity of Mrs Aliyeva as a goodwill ambassador of UNESCO, president of the Association of Friends of the Azerbaijani Culture  and the Gymnastics Federation.

 

Visitors, saying there are all  conditions for Jews to freely live in our republic, underlined that they were deeply impressed by the meeting with the Azerbaijani President, and that they will help in promoting the realities of Azerbaijan, which has  always been distinguished for its tolerance.

 

Mehriban Aliyeva was presented a souvenir on behalf of the delegation.

 

Mehriban Aliyeva presented  books, albums, audio and video CDs developed by the Foundation to the members of the delegation.
