President Ilham Aliyev familiarizes himself with Shamkir Branch of the Oxford School

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev familiarized himself with Shamkir Branch of the Oxford School, September 10.


At present, 231 pupil is educated at Shamkir Branch of the Oxford School, which started to function in November 2010 within the framework of the project “Support to Education” of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. School-leavers will, in addition to the certificate of the Republic of Azerbaijan, receive the certificate of the Cambridge University for secondary education. Lessons at the school are given in English. Education here includes preschool education, elementary classes, general secondary education and high school education. Moreover, the international biennial  “A-level” programs are taught at this education establishment. Pupils completing these programs may enter various universities of the Great Britain, if successfully passed international exams.


President Ilham Aliyev viewed also the hostel of the Baku Oxford School’s Shamkir Branch.


It was informed that children from Ganja, Gadabey, Aghstafa, Tovuz and Gazakh will stay at the hostel, along with those living in Shamkir. In addition, there have  been allocated 5 transport facilities to ensure easy transportation of pupils to and from the school. Area of the hostel building is 4 thousand sq. metres. Necessary conditions have been created here for 90 pupils and 9 teachers’ stay. First and second floors of the hostel have been intended for boys, the third floor for girls. It has an electronic library, various sport facilities, an art-studio and a showing room. Children will be provided meals three times a day. Specially trained staff will work at the hostel.


President Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the conditions created here.
