Exhibition of works by young artists on the theme of “Pomegranate” to open in National Park as part of “Gyz Galasy” Festival

Gyz Galasy International Art Festival, organized by ‘Icherisheher’ State History and Architecture Reserve Administration, Museum of Modern Art and ‘Gyz Galasy’ Art Gallery at the initiative of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, purposes to popularize the Maiden Tower – one of the significant and the most ancient monuments of Azerbaijan. Located in Icherisheher, which has been included in UNESCO’s World Heritage List, the Maiden Tower, the pearl of Azerbaijan’s ancient history and architecture and the symbol of Baku, can contribute to the enrichment of cultural heritage and intercultural dialogue. 


Gyz Galasy International Art Festival has successfully been held for already two years in Baku. More than 40 artists from different countries took part in the contest so far. The project considers to present these unique author’s works in different countries and turn them into a significant method under the propaganda of the Maiden Tower. The exhibits are already demonstrated abroad. A number of works created during Gyz Galasy International Art Festival have been presented to international auditorium at several exhibitions in foreign countries.


Conceptually, the scale of the Festival is enlarging year by year. On the eve of Novruz Holiday, exhibition of young and famous artists of Azerbaijan will be demonstrated in the National Park under the support of Heydar Aliyev Foundation within the framework of Gyz Galasy Festival. This time, the theme of pomegranate worked on Maiden Tower models by Emin Esgerov, Vugar Muradov, Huseyn Hagverdi, Reshad Jabbarov, Namig Mammadov, Nazim Shamkhorov, Yelena Hagverdi, Hamida Malikova, Taleh Mirkazimov, Subhan Mammadov, Adil Yusifov, Shamo Abasov and Mahammad Orujov will be presented at the exhibition.


Traditional Gyz Galasy International Art Festival will be held in May. Artists from more than 20 countries are to join the next contest.
