Nasimi-Poetry, Art and Morality Festival to take place in Moscow with the organizational support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation

On November 19-20, Nasimi - Poetry, Art and Morality Festival will take place in Russian capital Moscow, with the organizational support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. The project aims at popularizing the creativity of Imadeddin Nasimi (1369-1417), one of the great poets and thinkers of the Orient, and extending the cultural and literary relations between the two countries.

 

Inauguration of a bust of Nasimi will take place in the Moscow International Relations Institute, in the framework of the Festival. Various examples from the Nasimi poetry will be read during the opening ceremony.  

 

During the Festival, an event dedicated to Nasimi’s creativity will also be held at the Asian and  African Countries Institute under the Moscow State University (MSU) named after M.V.Lomonosov. The role Nasimi has played in the development of the Azerbaijani poetry, and the contribution made by him to the world culture and literature will be touched upon in the speeches. Students of MSU will read poems of Nasimi in various languages at the event, and the musical and poetic show “Merhaba” will be presented by actors from Azerbaijan.

 

On November 20, the Festival will continue at the Asian and  African Countries Institute under the Moscow State University (MSU) named after M.V.Lomonosov with a conference dedicated to Nasimi’s legacy. At the event, lectures will be given on “Nasimi Festival: Experience on Dynamic Interpretation of Ideological and Cultural Heritage”, “Nasimi and Jan Hus. Cultural Union of the East and West”, “Nasimi Language – Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” and other topics. Along with speeches analysing Nasimi’s creativity, the literary and philosophical legacy of the poet, discussions will also be held on the morality of the contemporary youth, and advancement of relations between the two countries’ youth.

 

Following the initiative of Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva, Nasimi-Poetry, Art and Morality Festival took place for the first time, on September 27-30, in Azerbaijan. Exhibitions on various types of art, music projects, shows, lectures, symposiums and seminars took place in the framework of the project, both in Shamakhy where the poet was born, and in Baku. Having continued for four days, the Festival remained in memories with praising of Nasimi’s creativity, as well as immortalizing his poetry and art, and various presentations.
