Baku Marathon-2019 to start with the organizational support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation

On May 5, Baku Marathon-2019 will take place with the organizational support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. The project aims at providing support to advancement of sport, popularize healthy lifestyle, and bring people together for benevolent acts.

 

To be organized for the fourth time under the slogan “Win The Wind”, the Baku Marathon will start on the State Flag Square and end on the Baku Olympic Stadium, with total distance of 21 kilometres.

 

People over 16 years old, willing to participate in the marathon, may apply, from March 4th to May 1st, to registration points at trade centres in Baku, namely, 28 Mall, Ganjlik Mall and Port Baku Mall, or the website of Baku Marathon-2019 (www.baku.marathon.az).

 

In the course of registration, necessary questionnaire should be completed, copy of the ID card produced (students should, additionally, produce a copy of their student’s card), and the amount determined for the participation paid.

 

Physical persons willing to participate in the competition shall pay 20 AZN. Those joining the marathon as a corporate body may apply by writing to the email address [email protected]. Cost of students’ participation in the half-marathon will be covered by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, therefore, no payment shall be received from students during the registration.

 

Azercell Telecom is the exclusive partner of Baku Marathon-2019. The marathon will be organized jointly by the Seaside Boulevard Department, the Baku Olympic Stadium, the Education Ministry, the Ministry of Transport, Communication and High Technologies, the Regional Development Public Association, AFFA, and SOCAR. Execution of the project will be carried out by Sport Marketing Group (SMG).

 

Awarding at the Baku Marathon-2019 will take place on two categories. So, men and women participants will compete on the racetrack for first 3 places. Both in men and women categories, winner of the 1st place will be awarded 3000 AZN, with the second and third places receiving 2000AZN and 1000AZN respectively, as well as presents, medals and certificates.

 

All marathon participants and volunteers providing support in the organization of the competition will be given certificates. 1000 participants crossing the finish lines will be conferred on the special medal “Baku Marathon-2019”.

 

Moreover, a series of entertainment programmes will be arranged along the track.

 

18 thousand participants were registered for the last year’s Baku marathon.

 

Along with Azerbaijani citizens, foreigners living and working in Azerbaijan, as well as representatives of the embassies of USA, Brazil, the Czech Republic, France, India, Iran, Switzerland, Spain, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Mexico, Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine etc., the Representative Office of the European Union in Azerbaijan, “BP Azerbaijan”, UAFA (United Aid For Azerbaijan) of the Great Britain joined the competition. Tourists from USA, Germany, Austria, United Arab Emirates, the Great Britain, China, France, Georgia, Iraq, Iran, Spain, Kenya, Colombia, Poland, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, Japan etc. too participated in the marathon. As the project was welcomed by citizens of regions with great interest, a half-marathon was organized in Ganja city.

 

Novelties about the Baku Marathon-2019, information concerning the trainings to be arranged on the eve of the competition will be placed on the project’s official Facebook page - www.facebook.com/bakumarathon and website - www.baku.marathon.az.
