2nd International Mugham Festival to be organized in Baku by Heydar Aliyev Foundation

The 2nd International Mugham Festival ‘World of Mugham’ will be organized in Baku on March 14-21 by Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Azerbaijan Composers Union.


Within the Festival, discussions on mugham will be held, classic and symphonic mughams played.

 

Opening ceremony of the Festival will take place on March 14 at the International Mugham Center. March 15, scientific symposium ‘Azerbaijani Mugham and Mideast Music’ will be opened at the National Museum of Azerbaijani History, which will go on till March 17 at the Azerbaijan Composers Union and include master classes by famous scientists of mugham.

 

The Festival will feature operas Leili and Mejnun by Uzeyir Hajibeyli, Sevil by Fikret Emirov, Shah Ismayil by Muslum Magomayev and operetta Arshyn Mal Alan at the Azerbaijan State Opera and Ballet Theater.  

 

At the International Mugham Center the Festival will continue with Rast, Segah, Chahargah, Bayaty-shiraz and Shushter mughams performed by Zabit Nebizade, Tayyar Bayramov, Jabir Abdullayev, Nazakat Teymurova, Aygun Bayramova and Simara Imanova, as well Iragi Magma by Hussein Eladhami from Iraq, Shashmakom by Yildiz Turdiyev from Uzbekistan, Uzun Hava by Salih Turhan from Turkey, Raga by Indrani Mukherjeen from India, Nahda by Aijha Reduane from Egypt and Makam by Salar Aghılı from Iran.

 

Also master classes will be given here by People’s Artist Alim Gasymov.

 

The Festival will cover concert programs at the Muslum Magomayev Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Society, jazz concerts at Baku Jazz Center, meeting-concert ‘Friends of Azerbaijani Mugham’ and opera ‘Asli and Kerem’ at Azerbaijan State Mugham Theater.

 

Participants of the Festival will join the Novruz celebrations at the National Seaside Park.

 

The Festival will be closed with a gala concert at Heydar Aliyev Palace on March 21.
